EDUCATION

  • Provide extraordinary customer service to retreatants, prioritizing emotional and physical well-being of each retreatant, close and compassionate listening, calm and attentive responsiveness, and nurturing  growth-focused support, along with administrative support to teachers and other staff, and oversight in maintaining the silent retreat center and facilitating the smooth front-office operation of the retreat

  • Designed and implemented engaging Language Arts learning experiences in one-to-one and small-group sessions for individual learners of varied backgrounds, ages 10 to 18, including 2e students—gifted students with a learning disability or impairment; showed growth-focused supportiveness, flexibility, and creativity in adapting curriculum to individual learners, in being continuously available for student consultation, and in providing nurturing, constructive evaluation of student work

  • Designed and taught nearly 100 face-to-face and online college-level writing and literature courses; coached, mentored, supervised, and evaluated up to 100 students per term

  • Developed and taught 15 online graduate literature courses for experienced secondary English Language Arts teachers seeking dual-enrollment accreditation, helping to launch Ohio University online ELA program

  • Recognized for innovative and outstanding curriculum design (Bruning Teaching Fellowship, 2017-2018), resulting in participation in yearlong fellowship seminar on improving alignment between learning activities and outcomes

  • As Composition Exemption Coordinator, collaborated with administrators on 6 regional campuses to improve competency-based writing exam; facilitated student completion of composition requirements across university

  • Used data (student evaluations and grades) to effectively revise and manage curriculum

  • Developed strong, productive collegial relationships with other faculty members in serving on numerous departmental committees

  • Quickly adapted to COVID quarantine in translating all courses to online format; rapidly mastered new software applications; worked independently in teaching remotely throughout the year

  • Wrote, edited, and produced various publications, including a 200-page corporate policies and procedures manual, collaborated with representatives of multiple departments to understand their publishing needs, communicated with them throughout process, meeting tight scheduling deadlines.
